The over-the-counter medical product Minoxidil 5% acts on the hair follicle, stops follicle destruction and stimulates the release of keratin. Minoxidil products are particularly effective when hair loss is recent and the follicles have not fully expanded. Studies have shown that more than 50 % users of this product experience hair loss and new hair growth, but after discontinuing use, hair starts to fall out again. This preparation should be used twice daily for an unlimited period of time. Minoxidil preparations are not recommended for people with high blood pressure.

Make sure your hair and scalp are dry before applying Minoxidil 5% topical solution. If the solution is applied using the fingertips, the hands should be washed thoroughly afterwards. The maximum daily dose of minoxidil is 2 ml. Using a higher dose or more frequently will not achieve the desired improvement faster.
